Blown Away

Five years into my illness,
body  looped into somebody's bad trip
and brain trapped in a Dali landscape,
he brought in the shotgun.

Short barreled,
mahogany handle, two shades lighter
than mother's old sideboard.
"For burglars", he said,

I knew what he wanted.

Later that evening
I coloured my lips red,
buttoned on my best dress,
gussied up hair,
blew a hole through the rooftop instead.
