Fields of My Youth

I often wandered
through poppy-red meadows.
Spring's blooms pulsed
through my heart.

Hoped our spring
would stretch through
a thousand tomorrows.

In my youth I often
dreamed the impossible,
not yet knowing the seasons
would set their own pace.
