Love Pirates

He was the one
I could have traveled beside
through this lifetime and more
skimming  inside the echoes
of endless star-flung nights
The velvet surf caressing us,
raising high our proud craft.

He was my wind
I, his sail
Love pirates we,
hearts the bounty we sought.
our own given the other for free

He sails elsewhere now
new heart-treasures to seek

The many hearts we've broken,
finally broke our own heart-bond, too.
so I will seek new sailing grounds
leave him be in his search
For I am a love pirate, also
and can sail this ship alone
